Eagle Mountain Mayor Tom Westmoreland announces run for Utah County Commissioner

UTAH COUNTY, UT — Tom Westmoreland announced this week he is running for Utah County Commissioner. Westmoreland, who has served as the de facto CEO for the city of Eagle Mountain, has led the City through the pandemic and a period of unprecedented growth. Now, he’s ready to use his knowledge and experience on the county level.

“It’s time to take Utah County out of obscurity and into the lead,” Westmoreland emphasized. “I’m committed to taking a proactive approach to our growth challenges by fostering coalitions and advocating for critical funding.”

With a proven track record of dependable and results-driven leadership, Westmoreland is uniquely positioned to serve in this capacity. Once unincorporated land between Lehi and Cedar Fort, Eagle Mountain is now one of the fastest-growing cities in Utah.

Among his many accomplishments, Westmoreland helped secure $150 million in critical funding for Eagle Mountain’s roads, water, sewer, and power. In addition, he successfully bolstered the local economy by negotiating contracts with companies like Facebook, Tyson, and Google.

As Utah County takes the lead as the fastest-growing county in the state, Westmoreland has a vision for the future that includes a robust economy, reliable infrastructure, preservation of open space, and an emphasis on the values-based culture we all know and love. As a self-proclaimed constitutional enthusiast, he believes in sound fiscal policy, limited government, and conservative principles.

“I’m here to address the hard things and make decisions that will propel our community forward,” Westmoreland said. “I’ve spent many years fighting for Eagle Mountain, and I’m ready to take that fight to Utah County.”
